The strength of Jubilee is the charity and care of Lamont Hiebert stemming from child slavery and human trafficking largely undertaken in Asia.  The songs and their lyrics by Heibert’s Ten Shekel Shirt are largely based on the effects and after-effects of slavery, abuse, and child exploitation but there are also songs of support and faith.  Musically steeped in the current sounds of Coldplay and other bands who share that sound, Jubilee is an album of tragedies and hopes.  It is also a spring of forgiveness and a chasing away of the dark.

There are some excellent songs here including the single material, “Spark.” This CCM album has eleven songs, all of which will inspire you to investigate the motivations behind the album’s songs.  Hiebert has brought Ten Shekel Shirt back to the music fold after several years in Asia working on helping to obliterate the injustices of child slavery.  Jubilee is every bit an extension of that.
