The old hymns as sung by the old Country stars of the past were something interesting to listen to.  Their cowboy style held onto to a faith that helped many of them through the rough times.  As a result, stars like Roy Acuff and Gene Autry were happy to sing their upbeat inspirational songs for the cowboys to sing-along with.

This collection of Gene Autry hymns goes back to a time where comfort came at the price of a song, and everyone was willing to pay that price.  As others drew inspiration and strength from the hymns and songs that Autry sang on the radio and in films, a piece of innocence was solidified.

This collection delivers memorable classics like “Peace in the Valley,” also popularized by Ernest Tubb, Elvis, Foley, and many others.  There is also an Autry version of another perennial favourite recorded by everyone but me, “The Old Rugged Cross.”  This Autry version is sung with Dinah Shore.  Most of these songs are taken from the Melody Ranch Radio Show in the ‘40s and ‘50s, with a few from films and other things.  There are 18 of these songs, all of which are reminiscent of another time much like Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra evoke.  Those times were fragrant with calm and collections such as these restore those nostalgic moments.
