Marilyn Scott has crafted a wonderful vocal effort with her recent Japan-released (Venus Records) album of classic Jazz and Pop covers from legendary composers.  Every Time We Say Goodbye is a collection that gives us not only a high-grade new version of classics, it also gives us a fresher view of them.  Not many can capture the element of a small, dark but intimate Jazz club with a beautiful chanteuse softly singing these fantastic songs as genuinely as Marilyn Scott does.

Recorded with a small band, Scott’s turn on such songs as Cole Porter’s lovely “Every Time We Say Goodbye,” Leonard Bernstein’s “Lonely Town,” and for Jazz/Pop, Burt Bacharach’s familiar “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?” that takes on some different but enjoyable shades.

Marilyn Scott takes us through the curtains of an era passed, secures for us a table in front, and sings her perfect Jazz heart out for us to fall in love with…again.  It’s safe to say that Every Time We Say Goodbye is 45 minutes of blissful life departure.
