Piano maestro, David Benoit, releases his 31st album in Heroes.  Heroes showcases the usual piano mastery from Benoit as he looks back at some of the music that has captured his attention during his life.  In it, he provides his interpretive skills on songs like the Doors’ “Light My Fire,” Elton John’s “Your Song,” and a very good “Never Can Say Goodbye,” a classic R&B track written by Clifton Davis and recorded by many.

In addition to the Pop tunes, he also pays piano homage to Jazz greats such as Dave Grusin (“Mountain Dance”), Horace Silver (“Song for my Father”), and Dave Brubeck (“Blue Rondo a la Turk”), even including a Benoit original (“A Twisted Little Etude”) written in tribute to Dave Brubeck.

Benoit visits several other tunes and performers like “She’s Leaving Home” by The Beatles, “Waltz for Debbie” by Bill Evans, and a few others that should have you playing “air” piano in no time.

It’s all in good fun and you’ll enjoy it.
