| May 20 2002 I've returned from a great San Francisco weekend trip that I took with my even greater wife. . A bit refreshed and ready to go. Thanks for all the emails. As always, coming back from anywhere can daze you. It takes a lot of head shaking and whatever to bring you back to reality. And I'm shaking my head. I've visited the always great Amoeba Music store located on Haight Street near the infamous Haight-Ashbury intersection. Picked up some great CDs and made it back, although not in time to watch the entire 'XFiles' finale. I don't really have lots to say about SouthWest Airlines 'cept that I don't plan on using them anymore. Whole 'nother story!! Some of this may be old news to most of you but here goes anyway. Looks like Napster got a small reprieve in the form of a buy out by Bertelsmann. Somehow, I cannot figure out this marriage. It may be that Bertelsmann wants to shut it down or plunder its talent, none of which makes any sense to me. There really wasn't any need to shut it down, they already achieved that. The talent...great idea but........And so, it brings us to what?! Do we even care?.....Quick...if you're an REM fan, run, don't walk to their website where you'll find remixes of songs from Reveal. The best part? They're free.....Those damn pirates! Seems like they got a hold of Eminem's new CD and is distributing it sooo Emimen' s new CD will be released a week earlier than expected. Originally slated for a June 4th breakout, you can now score it on May 28th.....The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, says that, despite the effort to acquire the signatures for him to run for the NJ Senate, which might be a good thing seeing as how it takes a tremendously long time to get new product from him, that he will not run nor serve. Still no, 'set in stone' release date for the new music. Don't you love the unpredictability of music?!....A few misunderstood and choice words uttered by Nugent directed towards Ozzy and family? You read the article and determine for yourself. Not that there weren't genuine intent here but it might have been handled a little differently?..... Ringo Starr is in the studio hoping for a 2003 release...Ricky Martin fans have a treat coming when he releases two issues of the same album, one in English, the other in Spanish. Expected by year end....Beck will release an as yet untitled CD on Sept 24th....See you tomorrow. May 21 2002 Welcome back. Beefed up the system with additional memory and more hard disk space. Plus, I'm putting together a new and updated site configuration. Please pardon, the slow updates. Once I complete the architecture of the site, things will really roll much quicker. Thanks for your patience. Neil Diamond begins a new leg of his tour in support of 'Three Chord Opera'. Shows begin September 5th and go through October, centering largely in Eastern USA with some dates in Canada. There will be concert presales beginning May 28th. Hop on over to www.neildiamond.com for info..... There is also a Grateful Dead reunion show that will be cool for those lucky enough to be able to attend. The show, at Wisconsin's lovely Alpine Valley ( I can personally vouch for this having lived near there for many years and attending more than a few shows there.)....Coldplay releases its followup to'Parachutes' on August 27th....New Release Data for the Week of June 11th is now available from AMG: Blues Country Folk Jazz Latin Rap Rock World Tomorra!! May 22 2002 I've read that Alien Ant Farm's tour bus collided with a truck which killed their driver. The accident, which occurred in Spain, also injured many of the band members interestingly enough, in their feet areas while the singer was treated for back injuries......P Diddy releases his latest and it shoots to the top, debuting at numero uno. How do they do it and for what audience?.....Oh, and word on the proposed Lance Bass of NSync climb into the heavens is that he competes for the seat with a former NASA official. But, get this, he has the pockets of Destiny Productions, an LA TV production company. This is the life, folks. I'm gonna quit commenting.....Tom Werman, producer of such 70s and 80s icons like Cheap Trick and Poison has sued Motley Crue over a spat of unpaid money (that would piss me off, too). The disagreement is over the highly successful albums, 'Shout at the Devil', 'Theatre of Pain' and 'Girls,Girls,Girls', all of which were produced by Werman. The complaint is over unpaid back royalties....The new Aerosmith compilation CD will be out June 25th. It sports two discs with the whole path of their career detailed by song. Check the link out for the track listing.....John Doe of X fame will release an interesting album of solo material, with various performers assisting, on August 20th.....On June 4th, the world gets a Disturbed DVD. Entitled M.O.L., it will include live footage from last years tour along with interviews and unedited videos. I will review the DVD for Digital Bits so watch for that....Kaaza appears primed to fold it in despite beliefs of the studios and labels. Guess we gotta wait to see.....Projected release for Lycia's 'tripping back into the broken days'. I'm very anxious to hear this new Projekt release scheduled for a possible July 9th date......Now what? May 23 2002 Big problems with internet service. I'm hoping that I can get at least this posted while I try otherwise. This dial up is almost as bad as my cable. Seems everything is at a crawl today. Well...still not up and we're crawling so its dialup for tonight. I have posted the long delayed Nine Inch Nails live CD review. But there it is for your reading pleasure. I will be reviewing the DVD version for Digital Bits. May 24- 26 2002 Our internet service is back up full blast. Good for us. Some of you have taken personal for my review of NIN's live set. Please don't...it's a critical view from my part. I really am a big fan of NIN. I was just not overly impressed with the live set. So...Hole has called it quits. Seems that the Courtney Love has divided her time to the point that the band suffered. Too bad. I really believed that their best work was ahead of them.....But Hole wasn't the only one hangin' up the spurs. Alabama has also decided to call it a career. They will, however, not do so until next year and after a farewell tour. Alabama fans, keep an eye peeled for the tour news...right here of course......The Strokes will release "Hard to Explain" as their newest single off of their fantantic rookie effort. The bonus will be that they will BSide it with "New York City Cops" which was pulled in the wake of sentiment toward NYPD after the 9/11 incident. It will be interesting to hear this one.....Oasis releases their newest CD on July 2. Titled "Heathen Chemistry", it will be followed by a support tour.....Bob Geldof will release his first CD in nine years sometime in August. "Sex, Age and Death" is the title.....Also, Asia, an 80s phenomena that was possessed of such luminaries as Wetton and Howe amongst others, will release "Anthologia" on June 18th. It is a 2 CD set that encompasses their brief career. the set features every track from their first four releases.....T Rex, or the folks who control that property will issue a 23 song collection in late August. See you sometime this weekend for something...Have a great weekend. |
